Position: Senior Structural Project Engineer

Location: Higham Ferrers

Reporting to: Associate Director

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced candidate to join us as a Senior Structural Project Engineer. With real potential for career progression and attractive benefits, the chosen applicant will have a secure grounding in structural engineering and a wide range of experience. They will join the Structural Engineering team to provide engineering support on single and multi-disciplinary projects, including new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors. Typical projects range in value from GBP £0.5-30m and are extremely varied in type, scope and complexity. There is a need to integrate and work with other engineering disciplines within the Group.

The candidate for this senior position will have the ability to take projects from conception through to completion and will be professionally qualified within the structural discipline. We are looking for a highly motivated person to support both the Associate Director and Director of the team and it is anticipated that, pending a trial period, the successful candidate will have potential to progress to Associate Director directly supporting the Civil and Structural Director alongside other Directors.

The successful candidate will work within multi-disciplinary design teams as the Senior Structural Engineer or with a Structural Associate Director on major projects. As the role develops, they will be responsible for the project management of complex projects for clients in the Industrial, Educational, Leisure, Healthcare, Residential and Public sectors. This will include client liaison, design, interface with project teams, contract implementation and providing support to our other offices.

Ideally, the candidate should have a minimum of MIStructE or MICE qualification and needs to be a Chartered Engineer, though exceptionally experienced graduates approaching Chartered status may be considered.

The candidate will have a varied and wide ranging experience across the breadth of Structural Engineering areas including Substructure, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel, Masonry and Timber Design Codes and Standards. Computer literacy is essential, and a good level of computer literacy in Windows, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software is required.

The ability to operate as part of a project team within appropriate authority levels and to represent the company with confidence to a variety of clients and outside organisations is expected. The candidate will be well motivated, innovative and career-minded and have the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.

Position: Assistant Project Engineer / Building Services Engineer – Electrical Engineering

Location: Peterborough

Reporting to: Associate Director

We are looking for an Assistant Electrical Project Engineer / Electrical Project Engineer with design experience within the Building Services industry. The candidate will have the ability to take projects from conception though to completion and will be qualified with an Electrical discipline.

We would expect the successful candidate to have a minimum of 3-5 years building services experience in a design-related environment. This experience should be post qualification construction or related industry experience.

The candidate will provide engineering proficiency to the Building Services Section of our office. Support of all our offices will be required from time to time.

The candidate will create, develop and finalise Electrical Building Services / Electrical Services advice and designs as well as monitoring site installation works. The candidate will join the Building Services section to provide engineering support on single and multi-disciplinary projects including new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors.

Experience of building services survey work is desired in order to be able to ascertain on-site conditions and coordinate with proposed design work. The candidate may also be required to assist with condition survey reporting tasks, so a good knowledge and experience of site surveying is required.

Ideally, the candidate should have recently qualified/graduated with HNC/HND or degree qualified with IEng/CEng potential. A good level of computer literacy in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Building Simulation/ Calculation software is required.

Rolton Group use AutoCAD, Amtech Specification Expert, DIALux and EDSL Tas software to carry-out their electrical building services design work. Experience of working with BIM would be an advantage.

The candidate will have design and project engineering experience across the breadth of Electrical Building Services such as: LV Distribution systems, Lighting/Emergency Lighting systems, Automatic Fire Detection & Alarm systems, Earthing & Bonding systems, IT/Data systems, Lightning Protection systems and access control/CCTV systems.

Main responsibilities:-

  • Preparing drawings for drafting by others, however the candidate will be expected to be able to use AutoCAD to make amendments and undertake minor AutoCAD draughting tasks

Position: (Graduate) Technician

Location: Higham Ferrers

Reporting to: Senior CAD Technician

We are looking for a Technician to join our organisation. The candidate will produce drawings and designs using 3D modelling software.

Ideally the candidate should have a minimum of a degree qualification or similar in a relevant engineering subject and a good level of computer literacy in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office etc.

The preferred candidate will have experience within a BIM environment using packages such as Revitt or similar, although the role will also require the use of other CAD software packages.

The successful candidate will work within multi-disciplinary design teams from Mechanical and Electrical to Civil and Structural engineering to provide support on new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors. There may be a requirement to visit site from time to-time and provide support to our other offices.

Position: Civil and Structural Assistant CAD Technician

Location: Peterborough

Reporting to: Senior CAD Technician / Project Engineers

We are looking for a Civil and Structural Assistant CAD Technician with a good range of experience in all aspects of Civil and Structural CAD.

The candidate will provide CAD assistance to Civil and Structural projects. They will have experience in GA detailing of Reinforced Concrete, Piling Layouts, Foundation design, Structural Steelwork and other traditional types of construction materials.

The successful candidate will work within multi-disciplinary design teams as a Civil and Structural CAD Technician to provide CAD support on new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors. There may be a requirement to visit site from time to-time and provide support to our other offices.

Ideally, the candidate should have a minimum of a relevant HNC qualification, an excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD. A good level of computer literacy in Windows and Microsoft Office software is required.
