Wind Turbine Installed and Commissioned at St John Fisher RC School, Peterborough!
As the above circa £11 million pound redevelopment project nears completion, a major focal point has been installed within the entrance car-park turning circle, a 6kW Quiet Revolution Vertical axis Wind Turbine.
The Wind Turbine specified by Rolton Group Ltd at RIBA Stage B of the project was supplied, installed, tested and commissioned by Quiet Revolution w/c 27th October ’08 on programme.
The Quietrevolution (QR5) Wind Turbine was designed in response to increasing demand for wind turbines that work well in the urban environment, where wind speeds are lower and wind directions change frequently. The elegant helical (twisted) design of QR ensures a robust performance even in turbulent winds. It is also responsible for virtually eliminating noise and vibration. At five metres high and three metres in diameter, it is compact and easy to integrate, and with just one moving part, maintenance can be limited to an annual inspection.

The Wind Turbine was included within the project alongside a Ground Source Heat Pump Installation and Solar Hot Water Heating panels to meet the Clients desire to achieve 10% of the on site energy use via renewable energy technologies.
Whilst the Wind Turbine operates in the wind speed range of between 4.5m/s and 16.0m/s, the anticipated energy yield annually is expected (wind conditions dependant) to be in the order of 15MWh with an associated Carbon Dioxide saving of approx. 3.2 tonnes a year compared to traditional grid connected electricity.
