A Day in the Life of the Geo Team

Geo-environmental engineering is the starting point for just about every construction project. It's the process of examining and analysing land, physically and chemically, to see if it's fit for its new intended purpose and remediating it, if it isn't. The land will need to be checked for contamination and ground conditions prior to development. Rolton Group's geo-environmental team is a tight-knit unit of professionals, some of whom have more than 20 years' experience of the construction industry. Others, like Claire and Sanjay, are newer arrivals on the team.

Rolton has been asked by a national housebuilder to investigate a site in Buckinghamshire where it is building a new residential housing estate. The site was once home to an iron foundry and a dye factory. The land has already been checked for contamination, and Rolton have also submitted a detailed report that begins to build up an accurate picture of the make up of the ground and draws conclusions about the approach the developers must take when they come to build on it.

The investigations that the Geo-Environmental team carry out on the site will provide the developer with the information it needs and will inform and influence the construction work that will follow.
