Opening of New M&S, Queensgate Shopping Centre

Rolton Group has completed yet another successful project for the Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough, in the form of the newly-refurbished Marks and Spencer store, which was officially unveiled at the weekend.

Our team was appointed as the Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Structural technical advisors direct to the client as part of the overall retail delivery team which oversaw the existing tenants’ refurbishment and expansion. Rolton Group provided advice to the client and ensured that the contractors’ proposals were compliant with the standards set for shops in the Queensgate Shopping Centre.

Works to the store included the installation of new escalators, lift expansion, increasing the electrical capacity for the increased sales space, structural works relating to the new store layout and ceiling plans. It is now spread over 50,000sq.ft, three-storeys, and houses all departments under one roof.

Associate Director and Project Leader Craig Smith said of the project:

"I am proud to have been involved in the retail delivery process for yet another expansion of a flagship store at Queensgate, which will provide an even greater retail experience to the general public".

Rolton Group has a long-standing relationship with the Queensgate Shopping Centre, having worked on numerous previous projects as part of its gradual refurbishment and redevelopment. To read some case studies about our work on the shopping centre, please click here.
