EnAbled Initiative Success

Thursday 7th December 2017 saw the launch of long-term client Queensgate Shopping Centre’s EnAbled initiative and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

The EnAbled initiative is designed to make shopping accessible for everyone, and Thursday evening saw the first shopping event create a comfortable and enjoyable shopping environment for those with disabilities to explore the centre in an environment sensitive to their needs. The Queensgate team ensured that the normal music over the sound system was replaced by soothing music played by a pianist. As well as having dimmed lights throughout the centre there was also the creation of a sensory room, which we sponsored. The initiative does not just focus on those with disabilities, it also allows carers to have an opportunity to go shopping knowing those that they care for are safe and being well looked after.

Harry Traynor, Assistant Director, Queensgate Shopping Centre spoke positively about the event, especially the sensory room which was a huge success. He thanked everyone involved and said our volunteers showed “a fantastic commitment and something we [Queensgate Shopping Centre] are very appreciative of. That is what business partnership is all about.”
Rolton Group Director, Craig Smith said it was “an absolute privilege to be involved with such a fantastic event.”

We wanted to say a huge thank you to Queensgate for letting us get involved and support this fantastic initiative, as well as Craig Smith, Laura Barker, Jonny Sampson, Iain Nelson, Alex Lindley, Helen Rolton, Paul Housego and Gavin Baxter from Rolton Group, who gave up their time to help out.
