Fleet News Feature: EV Plug-Ins

We are thrilled to see an article by Deputy Managing Director, Chris Evans has featured in Fleet News.

In the article ‘From pumps to plug-ins – should your business be switching to EVs?’, Chris explores whether businesses should be switching to EV – discussing both the opportunities presented by switching, and the factors to take into consideration before doing so.

Following the Government’s announcement that it would outlaw the sale of all new sole-powered diesel and petrol cars and vans from 2040 and their incentives for purchasing EVs, including grants of £4,500 towards the cost of a standard EV and £500 towards a standard charging point, it is clear to see why there has been such a rapid uptake.

With increasing numbers of commuters using EVs, installing charging points at workplaces could be a valuable benefit for employees, and could potentially boost recruitment and retention.

However, despite the rise in popularity, plug-ins remain a challenge for EV drivers, as there is no cohesive UK-wide strategy for EV charging, which has resulted in many different charging facilities and some locations being far better served than others.

If businesses are to install EV charging points, they also need to consider the impact on their electrical infrastructure, to ensure EVs can be charged without compromising the operations of the business.
