Rolton Group Supports Long-Term Client’s Initiative

Last year saw the launch of long-term client, Queensgate Shopping Centre’s EnAbled initiative, and we were delighted to be invited support the event again this year, with various members of our team volunteering on Friday evening.

The EnAbled shopping event is designed to provide a relaxed and comfortable shopping environment for disability groups and individuals with specific needs, of all ages and abilities. It also allows carers to have an opportunity to go shopping knowing that those they care for are safe and being well looked after.

The event is designed to be sensitive to the needs of all, and as such the centre was adapted from its usual busy and hectic atmosphere during the Christmas period, to a calm and relaxing one. Rather than the normal music over the sound system, the centre had low-volume soothing music playing and the lighting was dimmed throughout the evening. Additionally, quiet zones and a dog station were implemented, and due to the success of last year, the sensory room returned.

Our team were on hand throughout the evening and helped out where needed, including Rolton Group Director, Craig Smith, who said of the occasion:

We were pleased to support this event for the second year running and to give up some of our time to help make the retail experience more accessible for the range of shoppers at Queensgate Shopping Centre during this hectic Christmas period.”

Huge thanks to Queensgate for letting us support this brilliant event again, and to Laura Barker, Gus Sagoo, Iain Nelson, Jenny Baker, Alex Lindley, Gavin Baxter and Craig Smith from Rolton Group who gave up their time to help out.
