A Duo of Donations

Rolton Group provides a £250 boost for Little Miracles and The Squirrels.

Our team are proud to have made donations of £250 to local charity, Little Miracles and £250 to The Squirrels - a facility providing respite care for disabled children and young people.

Based in Peterborough (with 10 outreach locations in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire), Little Miracles is a charity that supports families with children that have disabilities and life limiting conditions. Their service includes providing advice, support and care to those in need, from benefits guidance, foodbank connections and advocacy for families, to regular play sessions, days out and educational sessions for children.

The Squirrels, one of two Northamptonshire facilities providing respite care as part of the Short Breaks for Disabled Children and Young People service, is a specialist facility supporting young people and their families. Their service provides nursing care and a structured environment for children of all ages with autism, complex behaviour and/or complex health needs, giving parents and carers the opportunity to ‘recharge their batteries’ in the knowledge that their child is in a safe, supportive and stimulating environment.

Craig Smith, Managing Director of Rolton Group, said:

“We’re pleased to be able to continue our support of both Little Miracles and The Squirrels this year. These two brilliant, local organisations provide incredibly valuable care, support and advice for families and children facing significant challenges.”

Rob Powell, Charity Fundraiser at Northamptonshire Health Charity, said:

“Donations like this mean such a lot to us and to the staff and young people at The Squirrels. They really help to make a huge difference to the care provided. We are about to launch a fundraising appeal to completely transform the garden area at the centre to make it more accessible to all those who stay there so this will be a very welcome contribution – thank you so much!”

Christie Ireson, Manager at The Squirrels, said:

“We are extremely grateful for the generous donation made by Rolton group; it can be very challenging for us to be seen as we are a smaller service in comparison to the large hospital units. We have had lots of changes in our service provision in the last few years and cater to a larger percentage of young people who use a wheelchair to mobilise, therefore we are trying to make the garden more accessible and fun for them. This support means so much to the 34 young people who access the service but also to us as a staff team to help us make their stay as fun and meaningful as possible.”
