Huge congratulations go to Project Engineers Chris Carrier and Grace Wright, who have both completed their Masters’ degrees.

At Rolton Group, training our team is one of our highest priorities to give them the skills and up-to-date knowledge required to ensure our clients receive the most innovative, bespoke and high quality service. Both Grace and Chris studied their Masters’ degrees part time over two years, whilst continuing to work full time at Rolton Group on some of our most interesting and exciting projects.

On the back of being promoted to Project Engineer (Structural) in June this year, Grace was delighted to find out that she has successfully passed her MSc in Structural Engineering and Practice at the University of Birmingham. Thrilled by her achievement, Grace said:

“I can recall the conversation Peter and I had as I finished my first summer placement at Rolton Group and was offered the opportunity for the company to sponsor me through to the end of my Master’s. At the time, it seemed so far away, but I am delighted to have completed it and apply the knowledge and experience I have gained at university, in the office. Now I have finished my Master’s, I can enjoy my spare time again… although not for long as I work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer!”

Chris, who was promoted to Project Engineer (Geotechnical) in January this year has also recently completed his MSc in Engineering Geology at the University of Portsmouth and is due to receive his results in the next few weeks. His dissertation compared the geotechnical properties of glacial till (specific soil samples deposited by glacier ice) from seven sites across the East Midlands and Southern England. Upon completing his Master’s, Chris said:

“When I was offered the role as a graduate geo-engineer, Peter said the job came with the opportunity to undertake a Master’s degree sponsored by the company. I knew this was a brilliant opportunity as I know there aren’t that many companies out there that offer this level of training to their staff.

“Although it was a tough two years, the company’s flexibility and support was brilliant and it feels class to be finished – I am just waiting for my results to be released at the end of November. I can’t thank Rolton Group enough for providing me with this opportunity and I will be forever grateful. It has unlocked many doors for future progression in my career path, with the next step being Chartership.”

Rolton Group Chairman, Peter Rolton said of the occasion:

“We place great emphasis on the development of our team, and I am delighted to see that the hard work from both Grace and Chris has paid off, both in the work place having received promotions earlier this year, but also as they celebrate achieving their Masters’ degrees. Congratulations to them both.”
