On Sunday afternoon, 15th May, Rolton Group attended the annual FunFest at Rushden and Higham Rugby Club.

The event is a family day out, jointly organised by the Rotary Club Rushden Higham, the Rushden Round Table and Cynthia Spencer Hospice, to raise funds for each charity.

This is the third year that Rolton Group has participated in FunFest and entered a team to take on the ‘It’s a Knockout’ competition. This year, 10 teams of 6-10 members took part in the challenges, which involved negotiating large inflatable obstacles, team-building exercises, dance-offs to receive bonus points, and being drenched in water – much to the entertainment of the spectating crowd.

Representing Team Rolton were:

Julian Bradbury, Eoghan Lodge, Jonny Sampson, Tom Dembry, Chris Van Den Berg, Grace Wright, Jack Doyle, Ewan Cross

Bottom row (left to right):
Victoria Dobbs, Roísín Cloake

Besides the main competition arena, there were numerous other activities for everyone to enjoy including an all-day barbeque; trade stalls selling goods from cupcakes to crafts; a bouncy castle; a giant inflatable slide; games stalls, zorbing, and a raffle.

The money which is donated to Cynthia Spencer Hospice contributes towards their ongoing provision of palliative care, while the money which goes to the Rushden Round Table and Rotary Club is then distributed to local charities or worthwhile causes as chosen by the two charities respectively.
