Rolton Group is pleased to be involved with a number of large residential redevelopment projects, which are of growing importance as the UK struggles to match high-quality housing supply with demand.
We are delighted that one such scheme, the £18 million Oxford Tower blocks project for which we are currently providing mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering services, has recently been granted planning permission by Oxford City Council, bringing the urban regeneration one step closer to reality.
The five towers in question were built in the 1960s and, as is typical of many high-rise buildings of that age, no longer serve their 700 residents with requisite quality in terms of insulation, ventilation, or energy efficiency to name but a few. This refurbishment scheme will bring each of the blocks up to modern standards without the associated environmental costs of a demolition / reconstruction project, providing an extension on existing design life of at least thirty years. Works are anticipated to begin on-site in the middle of next year and will implement a ‘Be Lean, Be Clean, Be Green’ sustainability approach to reduce energy and heat loss, with high efficiency systems incorporated into each of the five blocks.
