Rolton Kilbride’s plans for an energy centre at Castle Bromwich are featured today in the Birmingham Post.
The article outlines the plans, which aim to see a new energy centre based at Fort Industrial Park, Castle Bromwich. The centre would make use of non-recyclable industrial and commercial waste by using gasification technology to produce sustainable power for commercial users across the local area.
The proposed development will have the capacity to process up to 105,000 tonnes of waste each year and create 8.6MW of electricity and heat available for district heating. The proposals also include the construction of a new industrial/warehouse building to include storage and offices.
If permission is granted by the council, it would take about three years for the energy centre to be built and operational. Rolton Kilbride will be the development managers on behalf of Legal and General Property, who own the land, and Rolton Group will be the consulting engineers.
Rolton Kilbride is a company founded by Peter Rolton, Chairman of Rolton Group, and Colin Banyard, Chairman of Kilbride Infrastructure. The company will build energy from waste plants, to make use of non-recyclable waste by using it to generate electricity and heat. The generation of power from these plants will lower costs for high-energy users and councils looking to dispose of non-recyclable waste.
