Rolton welcomes and Government’s launch of DRIVE35 a £2.5bn programme to power UK auto investment and jobs

The UK Government launched DRIVE35 on 14th July.  The programme of support for UK automotive firms will see them benefit from a £2.5 billion commitment over the next decade that will support thousands of jobs. The Government statement says it is designed to help ensure the UK remains at the forefront of zero-emission vehicle development.

The package forms part of the UK’s modern Industrial Strategy, which takes bold ambition to significantly increase business investment in the advanced manufacturing sector by 2035. Rolton has actively engaged with the Governments Industrial Strategy, through hosting roundtables and producing a White Paper focused specifically on the energy and infrastructure needs.

Government also announces over £300 million of investment for specific auto projects, supporting the UK’s thousands of high-value manufacturing jobs and delivering on the Plan for Change.

Advanced automotive manufacturing is a key sector for Rolton. Our extensive experience in the sector goes back to the 1990’s as tier 1 supplier to Jaguar Land Rover and BMW, testament to the reputation we hold in this demanding and ever evolving sector. Peter Rolton said: “we welcome this new package and the opportunity to share our experience with the broader automotive sector and support the development of facilities creating high-value manufacturing jobs”.
