With support from Rolton Group, recent graduate Grace Wright has successfully completed her three years of undergraduate study at university and is well on her way to becoming a fully qualified engineer.
Grace joined Rolton Group after her first year at university in June 2015 as a summer placement student, primarily to gain work experience within the industry. Throughout this time she worked in a number of departments but mainly with the geotechnical team, which involved heavy involvement with housing projects looking at house foundations calculations and reinforcement schedules.
After showing great aptitude, work ethic and team spirit, at the end of the summer placement Grace was offered a sponsorship by Rolton Group through her 2nd and 3rd years of study, together with a full time position after graduation and sponsorship of her chosen master’s degree.
Thrilled with the offer, Grace continued to study hard and joined the team for further work experience during her summer and Christmas breaks, working regularly with Rolton Group’s Structural team to gain extra industry knowledge and experience.
We’re delighted to announce that Grace has now graduated with a Second Class (Upper Division) Civil and Infrastructure Engineering bachelor’s degree with honours (BEng Hons) from the University of Derby, and will be starting her 2 year part time master’s degree in September at the University of Birmingham studying Structural Engineering, whilst continuing to work within the structural team at Rolton Group full time.

Grace commented on her journey with Rolton Group:
“I’m so grateful for the sponsorship and the support I have received from my colleagues at Rolton Group.
I have gained so much from the industry experience that this opportunity has given me, which has allowed me to kick start my career while still developing my learning at university – I can’t wait to start my masters and I’m excited to continue my career with Rolton Group!”
Deputy Managing Director, Chris Evans, commented:
“We are all very proud of Grace gaining a 2:1 in her degree and as a company, we are always willing to invest in people that show a real spark and passion for their chosen discipline. Supporting the career aspirations of young professionals and helping to realise their personal goals is always an absolute pleasure.
Congratulations on your well-deserved grade Grace and all the best for your master’s degree studies – it’s great to have you back at Rolton Group!”
