Delivering on our commitment to develop the talent of the future, Rolton has supported the creation of Article 25’s NextGen initiative and event series in partnership with More Than a Building members.
Our Development Director, Helen Cadzow has been working with Article 25 over the last year supporting the growth of the organisation. Inspired by her leadership Scarlett Doyle, Executive Officer at Rolton worked with a small group of young leaders who are passionate about the objectives of Article 25 but also about the need to develop the next generation of talent. The group formed the first board and created a dynamic NextGen platform uniting architects, engineers, and construction professionals aged 25 to 35 to tackle global challenges and drive meaningful impact.
As part of the More Than a Building initiative, NextGen fosters a vibrant, multidisciplinary community dedicated to reimagining our built environment. The board plays a key role in shaping the agenda, curating discussions, and driving real action. NextGen’s speakers and topics aim to challenge conventional thinking, inspire us to break free from echo chambers, and drive thought leadership.
Scarlett commented “I love to travel but I have also seen the disparity in the provision of schools and health facilities in the global south. I was inspired by the opportunity to get involved in the work of Article 25 and work with colleagues from Arup, Studio Pringle and BGY to establish a NextGen platform to inspire others to take action. We aim for NextGen to be more than a series of events – it’s a movement!”
The series kicks off on Monday 24th March 2025 at Wedlake Bell in London, sponsored by Rolton. Speakers Lidia Guerra, Senior Engineer & Partner at Max Fordham, Toby Pear, Senior Architect at Article 25, and Peter Rolton, Chairman at Rolton, will discuss the future of specialist education design and the award-winning Collège Amadou Hampaté Bâ project in Niamey, Niger
Chairman, Peter Rolton commented “this commitment from Rolton is part of a strategy to foster new talent in our sector as a whole, to encourage learning and provide opportunities to get involved in initiatives where we can give back to society as a whole.”
