Clayton has excelled at Rolton over the last 10 years progressing to Director of the structural team. Recognised for his efficient delivery of multi-disciplinary projects for global clients whilst driving sustainable solutions.

He has a particular expertise in large steel-framed structures, including the development of a £50m Advanced Thermal Treatment energy-from-waste plant in London and £35m car showroom in the northwest that was at the time the largest car showroom in Europe.

A specialist in the retail sector, Clayton provides continuous, reliable, expert advice to longstanding clients. His experience in the reconfiguration of a grade two listed shopping centre has used his technical experience and historic knowledge of the building to adapt with shifting requirements based on the needs of both the tenant and landlord, applying lessons learnt to the retail sector.

He has supported numerous internationally recognised brands from new-build and extensions to retail facilities, including both customer-facing and manufacturing warehousing/storage offering a tailored understanding for buildable, practical, sustainable solutions.

As Learning & Development lead, he ensures technical excellence is preserved throughout Rolton’s core values and deliverables.  Clayton maintains a high standard of technical expertise through his leadership ensuring that new and junior colleagues are given every opportunity to grow beyond their chosen skill set.

He also consistently analyses existing workflows to refine or reinvent internal processes to modernise and enhance efficiency of daily business operations across the company.   Clayton oversees the company’s CAD standards, which have over the years evolved to include 3D modelling and BIM.

Clayton supports top-tier car manufacturing clients to promote the evolution of their production through maintenance and enhancement of historic steelwork, including structures constructed around the World War II era. As a technical expert in heavy industrial manufacturing his work has included delivery of large-scale lifting systems such as internal crane lines and foundational support to heavy manufacturing processes.
