Our engineers delivered a variety of investigative and design work, including; holistic drainage strategies, support with external areas such as car parks, paths, landscape levels, intrusive geotechnical site investigation, foundation and ground floor slab design, superstructure design (detailing load bearing and non-load bearing walls – masonry structure with steelwork as required, upper floor design – precast concrete), and full infrastructure performance design.
Mechanical and electrical performance design services provided by our engineers included indicative layouts for a variety of services to cater for each unit and the facility overall (heating, domestic water service, LV distribution, fire detection, etc.).
As an extra care facility, all aspects of design were carefully considered to deliver a space suitable for comfortable, community life. Designs for the facility ensured that each unit was individually metered to create totally independent residential areas for let to a variety of tenants.
In addition to standard extra care requirements, additional services were provided to ‘future proof’ the residential apartments and allow for easy alteration at a later date to accommodate additional care facilities such as those required for Alzheimer’s patients.
After a successful MIPIM collaboration, Rolton are pleased to continue their support for the Newcastle Gateshead Initiative and are extending this partnership by joining the North East England Pavilion at UKREiiF as an Ambassador Partner.
Our scholarship partnership with Northumbria University is an excellent opportunity for the next generation of engineers to benefit through funding, mentorship and work experience. It’s an honour to give back, to inspire and change lives.
Our paper begins with a fundamental truth – that if we are to have the energy we need to ‘power the 2035 industrial and data-driven revolution’, we need to focus on delivering sustainable energy and infrastructure for the UK.
