1.5m Project
1.2m2 Warehouse
LZC Zero Carbon

One of the largest UK coffee importers and roasters, Masteroast, appointed Rolton to assist with their expansion of operations in Peterborough through the development of a new 1,174m warehouse with a three-storey office block to support their continued growth.

Keen to explore the use of renewables and Low Zero Carbon (LZC) technology, Masteroast requested a review of potential biogas from recovered coffee chaff, Photovoltaic (PV) panels on the roof and Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) systems.

We provided high-level Mechanical and Electrical (MEP) performance design for the development, with room data sheets including public utility searches and strategy approach for tender.  Our services included an LZC report and appraisal for heat source, with a focus on innovation the engineers developed a detailed and definitive list of three options, providing added value MEP elements.

  • Assessment provided for the use of renewables and LZC technology
  • High efficacy lighting with presence/absence detection control, ASHP and PV implemented to save energy
  • Allowances are in place for future development of the adjacent site areas
  • All works carried out on a fully operational site with a large volume of delivery traffic
  • Development ensured protection of existing jobs, creating a further 20 roles
  • Completed on budget

Now complete, the £1.5m facility based in the Fengate industrial district can store 2,500 pallets and helps the client focus on the delivery of their online orders.
