Following our successful work at the Royal Opera House in London, we were appointed by long-standing client Playfords to support the major alteration and refurbishment works at the prestigious Grade I listed, Theatre Royal.

The restoration saw the refurbishment of the Greek Revival front of house design, with new stage facilities, dressing rooms, bars and restaurants. This project is the largest programme of works recently undertaken at Theatre Royal and required the theatre to close for the first time in recent history.

  • Laser scan survey of existing building
  • Significant challenges with services routing within the confines of existing structure simplified via use of detailed 3D coordination
  • Collaboration with multiple specialists including factoring designs into 3D coordination
  • Full 3D coordination within Revit MEP
  • Building owned and operated by LW Theatres
  • Winner of ‘Theatre Building of the Year’ at The Stage Awards 2022.

We provided full MEP design coordination services in 3D for the refurbishment and alteration works, ensuring an efficient use of space for all building services within the confines of the existing structure as the project develops.

Working within an existing building of significant age posed several challenges when developing the mechanical and electrical services routing throughout. Using the detailed 3D coordination, many tight spaces were concept proven prior to installation, saving time and money during the build.
