Data Centre & AI are becoming one of the most accelerated growth areas in the construction and engineering sectors, generating the demand for power and technical solutions.

Peter Rolton has been the architect of the path through which Rolton has addressed the challenges of renewables, carbon, and the built environment.  Acting as Technical Government Advisor on the UK’s Renewables Advisory Board provided advice and consultancy, presenting several white papers to the Secretary of State on the subject of renewable planning and public sector engagement.

With technical expertise, as Government Advisor for Business, Energy, & Industry Strategy (BEIS) Rolton led the planning of the UK’s first-ever Gigaplant Factory in Northumbria, on the former Blyth coal store/Power Station site.   This success was a testament to the sheer magnitude of hard work that goes into an SI/GI project, researching ground and environmental factors for the site, within the client’s scale and ambitious timetable of four months.   Our Strategic Energy team also secured a supply of renewable energy for the site of 1.5GW.

Data Centre projects are highly complex and fast moving. Rolton recently coordinated the multi-billion-pound deal for a new data centre campus for this site working with a global property development company, who own QTS a data centre operator with sites across the world.

Rolton work closely with clients to identify opportunities in scale, environment site identification, power supply, evaluation, and planning alongside architecture, project management, technical engineering, and design solutions.
