Biography

A Chartered Geologist with more than 20 years’ experience and a passion for working on projects that improve the lives of local communities

Andy is an Associate Director, responsible for the Geotechnical service line at Rolton Group. His role sees him managing and delivering a wide variety of geotechnical and geo-environmental services to help his clients find optimal solutions to the site development challenges often hidden within the ground.

From small, challenging sites to large, multi-million-pound schemes, Andy’s breadth of project experience covers many sectors and geographies. His past projects include undertaking site investigations for healthcare facilities such as the new Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge and for the development of The Rosie hospital, which provides maternity and neonatal services as part of the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Andy has extensive experience working with complex ground conditions, such as on former quarry sites. In Grantham, Andy supported the reclamation and redevelopment of old quarry land to create new industrial units and associated infrastructure for a junction connecting a new business park to the A1. In Rochester, he provided geotechnical and geo-environmental support through investigations, monitoring and design work to enable the development of a new school on a unique, sloping site, featuring various building sizes (with mixed foundation design requirements) across greatly varied ground conditions.

A Chartered Geologist and Fellow of the Geological Society with more than 20 years’ experience, Andy regularly provides advice and engineering solutions to both private and public sector clients, helping them unlock the potential of various land parcels for development.

Andy is also passionate about supporting our business plan and growing the Rolton Group Geotechnical service line and wider team, whilst supporting his colleagues to continue with their own professional development.
