Position: Structural Technician - Structural Engineering

Location: Higham Ferrers, Peterborough

Reporting to: Head of Structural Engineering and/or Associate Director with liaison with other Associate Directors and Senior/Project Engineers.

We are looking for an experienced Structural Technician to join our existing structural service line, which provides engineering consultancy for projects primarily within the automotive, commercial, industrial, retail, education, and residential sectors.

The chosen candidate will report directly to the Head of Structural Engineering and/or Associate Director with liaison with other Associate Directors and Senior/Project Engineers.

The successful candidate shall have at least Five [5] years post-graduate experience in a similar or skill transferrable role and ideally within a consultancy environment, be responsible for the detailing and modelling of a wide range of building structures on medium to large scale projects for numerous schemes for clients, cross sector.

The ability to operate as part of a wider project team and to liaise closely with engineers to ensure accurate drawing and model representation is required for the role. The candidate will have the ability to work on their own initiative and to coordinate their work with others, with high attention to accuracy and detail.

As such, there must be demonstrable technical ability in developing general arrangement layouts and models, alongside coordination of activities with Architects and other building professionals, in the detailing of structures and foundations in the core materials of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber. Good communication skills, full familiarity with various building techniques and thorough working capability with Revit for Structural Engineering (primarily) and AutoCAD is essential.

Familiarity with Navisworks, Building Information Modelling (BIM) (up to Level 2) protocols, reinforced concrete detailing and Common Data Environments (CDE) are desirable and development of skills in this will be required and provided, if not already held.
