Clayton Knevitt MEng CEng MIStructE | Head of Structural Engineering - Midlands (South)

Biography

Chartered engineer with over 10 years’ experience.

As an Head of Structural Engineering for the group, Clayton often acts as lead engineer and coordinates multi-disciplinary teams to deliver engineering designs and advice for several multi-million pound projects across the UK. He is also responsible for staff development, client liaison and the day-to-day running of the group’s structural team based in Rolton Group’s head office.

Clayton’s project experience is varied in scope and value, delivering valuable engineering advice and designs across a range of sectors, building types and construction methods and materials, with particular expertise in the delivery and maintenance of large steel framed structures. Key projects undertaken in this area include providing detailed structural designs for the new £50M energy from waste plant in Hoddesdon, Mercedes-Benz Centre of Excellence for Used Cars in Erdington and a new £50M dealership for Mercedes-Benz of Stockport, with Stockport being one of the largest car showrooms in Europe. To deliver the Advanced Thermal Treatment (ATT) energy from waste facility in Hoddesdon, Clayton and his team radically revised initial foundation designs (produced outside of Rolton Group) to make significant cost savings for the client through intelligent redesign to reduce the number of piles required and make the scheme commercially viable.

Clayton first joined Rolton Group in 2011 and since graduating from university in 2006 with a Master’s Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering he has gained extensive experience working as a full-time structural engineer within the built environment, along the way earning Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Structural Engineers. Clayton provides structural engineering design, technical advice and support to clients, architects and contractors, involved at all project stages.

With a focus firmly on the future, Clayton is also responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of Rolton Group’s BIM capabilities and internal CAD and 3D modelling standards.
