With over twenty years of experience across a broad spectrum of sectors, Managing Director and Chartered Engineer Craig Smith speaks from experience when he stresses the importance of strong client relationships and a partnering approach to projects. “A positive relationship with your client and the ability to work with other teams are invaluable to getting a project successfully completed: on time, on budget and to the highest possible standard.”

Since joining Rolton Group as an Assistant Project Engineer in 2002, Craig worked his way up through the company and joined the Board of Directors on the 1st June 2016 and became Managing Director on 1st March 2021. Craig specialises in delivering detailed, innovative engineering designs in the retail, education and commercial sectors, and enjoys working relationships with long-term clients such as Queensgate Shopping Centre, centre:mk, Workman LLP, Hammerson plc, Gleeds and Playfords Ltd.

The key to these relationships, says Craig, is providing a quality service; the importance of attention to detail and delivering accurate, well thought-out engineering solutions cannot be underestimated. It enables us to use our time – and the client’s time – efficiently and effectively, by producing specific and tailored designs from the outset.

As such, project costs can be worked within and client aspirations met or even exceeded, whilst still maintaining the design quality – earning the client’s trust in our expertise and our ability to complete a job to the highest standards.
