Case Studies

Waterfield Leisure Centre, Melton Mowbray

We were appointed as this major refurbishment project's mechanical and electrical building services consultant, overseeing and undertaking the performance design and producing a building services employers’ requirements package.

We provided an intensive survey of mechanical and electrical aspects, alongside building structure prior to its ownership by DBC. Early appointment by the client team enabled us to work with the client and the quantity surveyor to ensure that the tender package was tailored to suit a very challenging budget.

Both main and learner swimming pools benefitted from new lighting, emergency lighting and replacement air handling units linked to a new building energy management system; enhanced ‘village’ style changing and shower facilities were also provided along with new reception and sales offices.

The existing gym was enlarged to incorporate a higher number of cardiovascular machines and weight training equipment, as well as an interactive sports wall and kids’ zone with dance mats and interactive trickster bikes. The facility also includes a multi-activity room and studio which is now used for a whole range of classes including Zumba, Body Pump and the popular Les Mills sessions.

Our post-contract duties covered quality and workmanship review, site inspections and meeting attendance for the duration of the onsite work. We were separately appointed to provide independent building services Clerk of Works duties, including regular site inspections, tracker style reporting and final witnessing of testing and commissioning prior to handover and completion
