Charity Cycle for Royal British Legion

Robin Bryant has been raising money for the Royal British Legion for several months in the run up to his Pedal to Paris challenge, and Rolton Group gladly sponsored his efforts.

Although he fundraises for a different charity every year, this cause is particularly close to Robin’s heart; he served as a Gunner in the 25 Field Regiment Royal Artillery and 3rd regiment royal horse artillery between 1984-19990, completing tours in Germany, Canada, and Northern Ireland.

The gruelling ride took place from the 4th to the 8th September, covering 460km across England and France before finishing on the cobbles of the Arc de Triomphe; it is the only event for which the roads around this area are closed, with the exception of the Tour de France, allowing the 300 cyclists to finish their ride in complete safety.

Following completion of the challenge, Robin and his fellow cyclists took part in a formal ceremony to commemorate the members of the Armed Forces for whom they have been fundraising, and to pay respects to the sacrifices they have made.

Having set himself an original target of £5,000, which in itself would have been no mean feat, he has exceeded all expectations and his total now stands at an incredible £8,000. We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Robin on the hard work he has put into completing the ride, and are proud to have sponsored him for such an important cause.
