Graduate MEP Engineer Undertakes February Challenge For Charity

For the month of February, 2022, Graduate MEP Building Services Engineer, Robert McKenzie embarked on a daily challenge of a 10km run and 30km cycle, raising an impressive £770 thus far for Alzheimer's Society.

Robert undertakes two fitness challenges every year, one in February and another in October, each getting more and more strenuous. Last year in February, Robert undertook the 10km run challenge for each day of the month and this year, decided to add in the extra 30km cycle with the hopes of raising more money for a cause that is close to his heart.

The 10km run and 30km cycle took up two hours of Roberts time every day and is the hardest challenge that he has undertaken to date. In the past, Robert has raised £927 for 'Signposted Cymru', a charity that provides initial and immediate intervention with early prevention for individuals struggling with mental health and well-being issues, and £1,106 for 'The Wallich', a charity that works with communities across Wales to prevent and end homelessness.

Robert said of his achievement:

“I like to challenge myself twice a year to increase my fitness and to help raise funds for different charities. The charity of choice for this specific challenge was particularly special to me as I have a close friend who, unfortunately, has a relative that is suffering with dementia – making it a clear selection for this year’s proceeds to go to.

I am very grateful to everyone who has donated to help me raise money for such a worthy cause and I would definitely suggest undertaking a challenge like this to other people, it’s a fun and stimulating way to make a difference in the world.”

So far, the donations have come from over 30 different people, including Rolton Group staff members and of course, the Company itself. If you would like to congratulate Robert for his hard-work and determination, there is still time to donate at:
