Rolton Group support Morrisons with their Fresh Look

In 2016, Morrisons, the fourth largest supermarket in the UK, announced plans to refresh and refit its stores as part of its Fresh Look programme. Since then Rolton Group’s engineers have been involved in the revamp of over 25 Morrisons stores.

The main purpose of upgrading the supermarkets was to improve the in store experience by listening to the customers of each store and to introduce additional services to create the one-stop-shop the customers are seeking.

In 2016, we were appointed on our first Morrisons project to support Princebuild in the refurbishment of the Morrisons Chingford supermarket, including a large extension to the front of the store. Due to the success of that project we were then invited to tender for upcoming projects and were subsequently appointed onto the Morrisons framework.

Since then we have been involved in over 25 stores, working alongside Princebuild and ISG to support the Fresh Look programme; the works have ranged from internal alterations and extensions to the store and cafes and replacement plants. We have also been heavily involved in relocating and rebranding the Market Street facilities (butchers, bakers and fishmongers) and introducing Nutmeg (children’s clothing) into stores across the UK.

Rolton Group Director and Project Leader, Paul Housego, said,

“It has been a great pleasure to be involved in the refresh of so many stores and our team have been very reactive throughout each project. Our understanding of the process and what is required for each store has been a real asset and ensured each project has run smoothly and handover happens at the planned time.”

Our structural, civil and geotechnical teams have provided engineering services at Morrisons stores in: Banbury, Cannock, Chingford, Coalville, Corby, Diss, Downham Market, Gorlestone, Gosport, Grantham, Harwich, Hastings, Ipswich, Leamington Spa, Litchfield, London, Acton, London, Wood Green, Lutterworth, Norwich, Rugeley, Thamesmead, Totton, Woking, Wokingham and Wymondham, and we are delighted to have been appointed on more projects for Morrisons, which will be undertaken throughout 2019 including in Wellingborough, Hoddesdon, Crowborough, Beccles and Canning Town.
