We are looking for a Graduate, for September 2024 start to join the existing Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental service line that provides engineering support to a number of Blue-Chip International Brands.

The chosen candidate will have opportunities to develop and grow their experience within a multi-disciplinary company which provides support for projects primarily within the automotive, advanced manufacturing, commercial, industrial, retail, education, and residential sectors. The candidate will be responsible, under the leadership of a Senior Engineer, for assisting and managing ground engineering tasks on numerous schemes around the UK. This will include numerous geotechnical and geo-environmental services elements, working with other team members and project teams across our multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, together with direct liaison with other design team professionals.

A self-motivated person will have ample opportunity to improve their knowledge, skills, experience, and to work with some of the world’s greatest businesses across a wide range of industry sectors. You will be expected to contribute your ideas, add value, play your part and progress in a consultancy that is ‘Engineering the Future’ TM

We offer an internal graduate mentoring and training program aimed at developing the individual as well as the “Engineer” with a view to progression to Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or similar.

Our Geotechnical & Geo-environmental engineering graduates will cover a range of projects. Key responsibilities and accountabilities associated with the role are as follows:

  • Desk studies, site inspections and surveys
  • Planning and supervision of ground investigation fieldwork
  • Logging of soils and rock to latest industry standards
  • Preparation of laboratory testing schedules
  • Gas and groundwater monitoring
  • Preparation of geotechnical and contaminated land factual reports, working towards interpretation and assessment


Person Specification:

  • A good degree in Earth Sciences, Geology or Civil Engineering is required.An MSc in Geotechnics or Engineering Geology or a related subject would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Have at least one [1] year post-graduate experience in a similar or skill transferrable role.
  • A good working knowledge of soil and rock logging to current industry standards, is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent written English and verbal skills to be able to effectively communicate, with a keen eye and high level of attention to detail.
  • High level of organisation with the capability to coordinate on multiple tasks and projects.
  • A creative problem-solver, with the ability to provide solutions to engineering problems.
  • A fast learner with the enthusiasm to learn new skills in design and engineering consultancy.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritise own workload.
  • To handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to adapt in fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoy working outside as well as in an office environment.
  • A valid and clean UK drivers’ licence – the successful candidate will be required to work with clients throughout the UK and therefore the ability to travel to client sites is essential.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A good understanding of Information Technology (IT) systems and processes
