BMW - Development of plant, Oxford

BMW appointed Rolton Group as planners, designers, health and safety managers and construction managers for the creation of new facilities and the development of an existing facility at their Oxford plant, to increase production of the MINI.

Over three years, Rolton team was responsible for the delivery of more than 80 construction projects with a value of £16 million. These included a new BIW (body in white) facility, a new logistics facility and major modifications to the assembly area.

The challenges of the project meant there was a requirement for a permanent presence for the project management team and some key design personnel on site. This was to enable the team to respond to the programme and design requirements without causing unacceptable levels of disruption to the continuing production of the MINI. To achieve this, the team ran regular management, design and client team meetings to itemise areas of key programme requirements and deal with any consequent issues.
