Queensgate Shopping Centre, Mall Refresh Phases 1-5

Queensgate Shopping Centre went through a multi-phase plan to update and refresh the mall. Part of this refresh included ‘Phase 1, Westgate Arcade’, which concerned revamping the shop fronts, signage and fascias.

Rolton Group provided mechanical and electrical services and surveyed a number of aspects including LV distribution, general lighting, lighting control, small power and emergency lighting for strip out and replacement. Other services such as CCTV, data communications, fire detection and alarm, PA/VA and building management systems were surveyed for upgrade and adaptation. Throughout the whole upgrade of the Westgate Arcade, the works incorporated LED lighting with digital lighting control systems. Westgate Arcade is now complete.

Through Phases 2 to 5 mechanical and electrical engineers provided survey works on a number of aspects including structural, air conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems, CCTV, electrical distribution services, and fire detection and alarm systems.

Our structural engineers also had responsibilities within Phases 2 to 5, which included carrying out services fixings as well as providing advice regarding suitable types and locations for the given loads. They provided structural advice for any general builders’ works and any structural implications and locations of new fixings, ensuring that all works are compatible with the existing structure.

During the tender stage our engineers used their extensive knowledge of the sector, the works and the client to ensure that the appropriate contractors were appointed. This was done via tender analysis and tender interviews.

Once they started on-site, our engineers made regular site visits to ensure all of the works were being carried out efficiently and to a high standard. They also carried out snagging surveys and upon near completion, they carried out final inspections to ensure that all of the works are compliant with the brief leading up to the handover period.
