Who we are

Jaguar Land Rover - New Press Shop, Halewood

As one of the UK’s premier automotive manufacturers, Jaguar Land Rover constantly strives to improve the efficiency and flexibility of its production capability.

A clear demonstration of this commitment is the £45 million investment made by the prestigious brand in a new state-of-the-art press line at its Halewood site.

As part of a partnership with the client that has lasted for several decades, Rolton Group provided project management and lead design services on a scope of works that combined the building works with a new Aida press plant.

The project was undertaken using a construction management procurement method promoted by Rolton team, which allowed for the early procurement of steelwork and therefore enabled the project to better the fast-track programme by one week and facilitate a cost saving.

The press shop is among the largest in Britain, covering a vast 30,000m2 area. The most intensive press line has a capacity of 1,000 tonnes, stamping parts into the correct form 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The removal of ground and basement floor areas and elevation of the roof by 10 metres was required to make room for the new equipment, and the construction sequencing required careful planning to accommodate the floor and roof removal in a confined site.

In spite of these logistical challenges, the project was completed on budget and a week ahead of schedule.

Richard Else, Operations Director at the Halewood site, says:

"This colossal new press line reinforces Jaguar Land Rover’s long-term investment in UK manufacturing. Halewood is one of the most flexible, advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in Europe, producing two of the highest quality, largest selling Jaguar Land Rover vehicles to over 170 countries world-wide."

Rolton Group has proudly worked alongside Jaguar Land Rover for over thirty years, and this project is another example of successful partnerships bringing world-class results.
