Case Studies

City University London, Tait Lower Ground Floor SEMS

Rolton Group was appointed by City University to provide mechanical and electrical building services design services on the basis of a performance design scope to enable the project to be competitively tendered.

As part of a wider estate plan, this project formed part of the overall strategy to deliver remodelled teaching spaces for the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (SEMS).

Using our extensive higher education experience, we were able to work with the client’s project managers from concept stage to strategically plan the proposals and integration of the building services installations whilst integrating with central plant that was being replaced as part of a separate and parallel infrastructure replacement project.

Design of the building services scheme for this project had to take account not only of the phased delivery of the project but also the phased completion of the ongoing infrastructure project, which was to provide upgraded heating ventilation, cooling and LV distribution systems.

Rolton Group worked closely with City’s Property & Facilities (PAF) department, operations and maintenance teams, and the on-site commissioning manager to ensure that a cohesive plan of action could be worked up prior to contractors being appointed.
