Middlesex University - Hendon Campus, Phase III Building

The project comprises new teaching accommodation for Middlesex University. Rolton Group were appointed in March 2008 to act as civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical consultants on this project to take the design scheme up to a RIBA Stage D. Beyond this stage Rolton Group are retained as Employer’s Technical Advisors for the project.

The 14,500 m2 building will be used by the University’s Arts & Design School and its Media School, and will include media production (TV studios), specialist workshops as well as a mixture of office, teaching spaces, lecture halls and a display exhibition area.

The project has been designed to achieve an Excellent BREEAM rating under Bespoke 2006. The building incorporates a number of low / zero carbon and renewable energy technologies including:

  • Air-to-water heat pumps for heating and cooling services
  • Solar hot-water panels
  • Tri-generation – CCHP (gas fired CHP and absorption chillers)
  • External luminaries incorporating PV panels
