Dolphin House Surgery, Ware

Having recently successfully delivered a number of GP surgeries across the UK, we worked alongside project partners, Summers-Inman, MEB Design Ltd and Conamar for Assura plc on the development of Dolphin House Surgery in Ware, Hertfordshire.

Our scope of works included MEP building services engineering designs and advice throughout the project, as well structural engineering inputs at RIBA Stages 1-2.

The project itself saw the refurbishment and extension of the old fire station in Ware - which previously accommodated the police, fire and Citizen’s Advice Bureau - to create a new, larger premises for the Dolphin House Surgery, who had previously struggled to effectively service its 14,600 patients in its former building.

The new development now boasts a pleasant waiting area and nineteen new clinical rooms comprising a mix of consulting and treatment. It offers lettable office space on the first floor and dedicated training areas alongside an external car park. A Class A1 Retail Unit was also incorporated to facilitate an on-site pharmacy for the local community to make use of.

The 788m² contemporary, three-storey extension has been meticulously designed to complement the character of the retained existing building and surrounding town centre.

Now open to the public, the new and modern health hub has significantly greater capacity to service the practice's patients and includes facilities for a broader range of services and outpatient clinics.

This project achieved a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating.
